N3X15 is working on Spaceport 2.0, which apparently has a "Release Date" of September. Sure, plenty of people use multiple ways to play, but in the end it's only a small percentage I'd guess. I would advise setting up a Dropbox account or some other mod. I can already see how horrid that would be for them. They won't use Steamworks simply because to use it, it must be on Steam, meaning that they must move /everyone/ to Steam. Whether spaceport's future iterations will be any better remains to be seen, Steamworks is proven to just work. Steam workshop would not only solve that annoyance as it would boost the community colaboration on it due to the connection with the rest of Steam.

Plus, spaceport's concept idea may be good but the current result is that we end up downloading the mods from the forums instead and not actually knowing whether we have the final version or not. You're also making it sound that just because they are implementing space port they have to completely avoid steamworks and I don't think they have to. Search the forums () for these kind of mods, probably under the "Tools" section.Īs for why the Devs aren't going to use Steamworks, it's simply because they'd like to do their own solution, probably incorporating Spaceport () into KSP directly, much how the Steam Workshop is integrated into Garry's Mod, so that you can download mods without re-starting the game, etc.Įscrito originalmente por Serret:You make it sound like playing on 2 devices and using mods is mutually exclusive when it is not.

There's probably a version active at the moment for the latest version of KSP. There were a few mods a while back that did synchronized sharing, one of which was called Kessler. They do have a version you can buy outside of Steam, which was the only way to purchase it before they finally got on Steam.

In fact, you could copy your current KSP folder out of Steam and uninstall Steam if you'd like, and it'd still work. They could just do a DRM-free version regardless of the Steamworks version. I don't quite get this repulsion Squad has towards Steamworks. If I'm going to use dropbox then it'll be essentially the same as copying my saves over to the laptop anyways.
